All Saints

“Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.” —Hebrews 12:1-2

Celebrated on the first of November, the traditional holiday of All Saints looks to the great crowd of witnesses, honoring their faithfulness and the lives of all believers who have gone before us. The church has a rich history of Jesus followers who took God’s word and their faith into their personal context—living a life of surrender for such a time as this. What might the modern day saint learn by hearing the stories of those whose courage made a way for us today?
