““And the Word became flesh and lived among us, and we have seen his glory, the glory as of a father’s only son, full of grace and truth. (John testified to him and cried out, “This was he of whom I said, ‘He who comes after me ranks ahead of me because he was before me.’ ”) From his fullness we have all received, grace upon grace. The law indeed was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ. No one has ever seen God. It is the only Son, himself God, who is close to the Father’s heart, who has made him known.”
John 1:14-18
In this Sunday’s message, Pastor Kevin Myers invites us to rediscover what it truly means to make the most of your life not through striving, but through surrender. The world measures success by status, pleasure, and control. But Scripture calls us to a different posture: a living sacrifice. A life yielded to God, renewed in mind, and transformed by His grace.
From His Fullness He Favors You
- John 1:16 declares, “From His fullness we have all received, grace upon grace.”
- Grace is not a concept, it’s God’s active favor toward you.
- Before you could earn it, deserve it, or even understand it, He was inclined toward you.
- The first mention of grace in the Bible says, “But Noah found favor in the sight of the Lord” (Genesis 6:8).
- In a world marked by corruption, God’s favor found one who trusted Him.
- That same favor is at work in you not because of what you’ve done, but because of who He is.
- When the world says, “Make more of your life,” Jesus says, “Receive more of Mine.”
- His favor is not a feeling; it’s a fact rooted in His fullness.
We Have All Received He Favors You
- To receive is to open your hands in faith. It’s not earning; it’s accepting what’s already been made available. John 1:12–13
- Grace received becomes strength renewed, joy becomes endurance and suffering becomes seed for deeper faith.
- We may share the same circumstances as the world, but not the same spirit.
Grace doesn’t remove hardship—it redeems it, turning grief into joy, lack into dependence, pressure into peace. - You cannot be conformed and transformed at the same time.
- To receive His grace is to resist the pull of self-reliance.
Grace Upon Grace He Favors You
- It’s the grace that gives you identity: You are chosen, holy, and beloved. (Ephesians 1:4–6)
- The grace that gives you access: You stand in peace before God. (Romans 5:1–2)
- The grace that transforms: You are being changed from glory to glory. (2 Corinthians 3:18)
- The grace that empowers: “My grace is sufficient for you.” (2 Corinthians 12:9)
- Grace upon grace means favor upon favor an endless supply of divine strength, mercy, and renewal.
- Grace meets you in every place you feel empty and reminds you: His fullness is still enough.
- You are favored to live differently, to love boldly, to walk freely.
